Blair Family Cross Country Adventure:Day 1

After a final run through the mossy oaks in the avenues, it was time to begin tackling the last minute preparations for our roadtrip. The VW was loaded on a car carrier, the appraiser had come & gone, the house was scrubbed & we were organized & packed for our 1st leg of the journey;Birmingham bound!! Team Ratchet was on their way-or so we thought.. 17 miles away from Albany & we already had requests for a snack stop & We made an emergency evacuation of the vehicle due to Canine Flatulance! Poor Sadie-False Alarm! So we hit the road again & didn't stop until we reached the bustling town of Union Springs, AL at what should've been a Mcdonalds... No AC NO bathrooms & a less than thrilled staff to see us in our Team "Ratchet" shirts!!! LOL!!! No Happy meals for these Honkies!! 

It was a smoldering 97 degrees! The Family Truckster didn't seem to mind.! We felt right at home in the Deep South as we passed a HUGE confederate flag & the biggest sign I've ever seen that blasted, "GO TO CHURCH OR THE DEVIL WILL GET YOU!!" Ummm, ok?! Yeah, sign me up for that club...

We make it to the hotel & fight our way through an overcrowded hallway with luggage & a under traveled Hound. We later realized the mob was due to the auditions to be in a play with Robin Givens,(Mike Tyson's 1st wife). I walked right past her!! Should've accidentally dropped Sadie's leash:) Speaking of Sadie, she did really well but is NOT sure about the elevator!!! She made several new friends with the hotel staff! 

Dinner is Mexican & we all decide to call it a day! Memphis bound in the morning!!
