Day 2: Memphis

Day 2 began with an early morning wake up whine from Sadie Mae at 5:30 AM!! Rise N Shine!! After potty patrol we did manage to get a little more rest.... I headed to the fitness center for a quick go on the elliptical machine. Overall I'm certainly not a fan of gym equipment but figured a body in motion is a good thing!! After all the Blair women were adequately showered & beautified we headed to a local coffee/bagel shop called "Urban Standard". This shop had delicious eats & was esthetically right up the Blair alley!

We hit the road with the excitement of all that was ahead... Memphis bound!! We had a slight detour near Jasper as the hwy. was under construction.

Upon arrival we checked in once again to the Westin. I decided that after a week of packing I was in desperate need of a nail polish change so I called the salon at the Peabody for an appointment.

The World Cup game was about to start so Aaron & I killed some time at the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium with the other USA enthusiasts...we all know how that game ended!!

It was almost 4:30, so on to the Peabody for my much needed appointment-(the South really did rub off on me). A girl can't be walking around with nails looking so ratty!! LOL!!

The girls met Aaron at the Peabody to see the duck parade at 5:00. The Duckmaster invited them to sit on the red carpet for a front seat view!! How cool!!
Meanwhile, downstairs my nail tech was running way behind so I struck up a conversation with a sweet girl from New Zealand! They had just been to CA & Las Vegas! She commented on the gravity of the homeless situation in LA & how American food portion sizes were absolutely ENORMOUS. I proceeded to tell her about our obesity epidemic & commented about the homeless issue along with filling her in on our current family adventure. I really don't know a Stranger!!! LOL!!

After duck parades & the forging of new friendships we headed back to our room to get cleaned up for a big Memphis style BBQ dinner with long time friends- the Elericks! The Elericks are making a similar move currently from Naples to Arizona. They stopped to see family in Memphis. It was great to meet up with them!!

After dinner we walked passed the Civil rights museum & other key landmarks.

We ended the night with a walk down to see the Mighty Mississippi River. (cue Aaron singing "DEEP RIVER"like Clark Griswald on National Lampoons Vacation!)

Lots of pics & hugs later we were ready for a big "Goodnight!!"
